This is truly insane to me:

Why in the heck is a billionaire tech innovator and investor paying young people $100,000 NOT to go to college and instead “build new things instead of sitting in a classroom”??!

The THIEL Fellowship website (the organization handing out these “anti-college scholarships”) says it clearly:

“Some ideas can’t wait” — that’s painfully true.

But why shell out so much money???

Peter Thiel obviously sees what millions of individuals in the tech space are realizing first-hand:

“You don’t need a degree to break into tech.”

That thought actually reminds me of a line from one of Kanye West’s songs “All Falls Down”:

(Never mind that Kanye West is also a billionaire without a college degree — or the fact that his first album is entitled “The College Dropout”…)

For me, the billion-dollar question that arises from all this is this:

How many successful tech entrepreneurs are there that made it without a college degree?
